An Evening of Summer Reading with Eve Chase and Abi Oliver

On Thursday 29th June (on a hopefully perfect summer evening) we will be hosting two wonderful authors, Eve Chase and Abi Oliver. They have both written books set in the local area with a historical slant.

Eve Chase’s ‘The Vanishing of Audrey Wilde’ has dual narratives, one set in the present day and one during the heatwave of '59. It’s a story of how four teenage girls, on holiday in Oxfordshire, are slowly drawn into the disappearance of their Uncle and Aunt’s daughter, Audrey, five years before.

A New Map of Love’ by Abi Oliver is about an antiques dealer who, with his loyal dog, Monty, by his side, spends a summer getting far more embroiled with village life than he ever intended.

So, join us to hear about the delights and difficulties of setting books in real-life settings in the past and discover two different – but equally satisfying – summer reads. The event starts at 7pm on June 29, with Pimms served from 6.30pm. Tickets are £5, with £2 redeemable against a purchase on the night. Email us to reserve a ticket – or call into the shop for more details.
