You may have noticed a few changes to the blog. That may be an understatement...
Our blog actually predates Mostly Books. We started the blog early in 2006 to keep a running commentary on the pleasures, perils and lessons we learned from starting up with no experience running a bookshop.
In time, the blog evolved to be a place to review books, talk about events and (lately) to interview authors.
Since the last change, the web continues to transform, and if anything the changes are getting faster. Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest - the places where people hang out and discover books is changing all the time, and we have a sneaky suspicion that the way people discover great books is changing too.
Can a traditional bookshop survive? We think it can, but it needs to be able to deliver the best new books to readers in a way that suits the modern lifestyle. We still believe in books. And we think you should make time for books too.
Hence the new blog, which we anticipate will change some more in the weeks ahead as we get your comments. Coming into Mostly Books and talking to us about what you like is still what we love you to do. But if you can't do that, hopefully all the things on this blog will allow you to have access to us - and experience a little bit of Mostly Books - wherever you are.
